Founded in 1873, The Harvard Crimson is the official student newspaper of Harvard University, and the oldest continuously published daily college newspaper in the United States. The Crimson has a rich tradition of journalistic integrity and counts among its ranks of editorship some of America's greatest journalists. More than 40 Crimson alumni have won the Pulitzer Prize; many of their portraits line the walls of The Crimson.
Countless Crimson alumni have gone on to make history in journalism, business, public service, and politics; distinguishable figures include Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Steve Ballmer, Linda Greenhouse, Jim Cramer, Susan Wojcicki and more.

Format:
No proctoring is not required. The test will be conducted online with anti-cheating algorithms in place. Participants must use a laptop or computer with a camera and keep it on throughout the test.
Middle School
The history and rules of major sports (soccer, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, and the Olympics), famous athletes and their achievements, the basics of sports strategy and teamwork, important sports records and milestones, the role of fitness and nutrition in athletic performance, major international sporting events (World Cup, Olympics, Super Bowl), the evolution of sports equipment and technology, the impact of sports on culture and society, different types of athletic training and conditioning, and the importance of sportsmanship and fair play.
Students will be expected to recall notable players, rules and events in mainstream international sports in addition to the logistical and cultural aspects of sports.
Ex: If you were on the 1995 Chicago Bulls, who would you describe as the best two players on your team? These players played shooting guard and small forward.

High School
The history, rules, and strategies of major sports, including soccer, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, and track and field; the evolution of sports from ancient Olympic games to modern professional leagues; famous athletes and their influence on the sports industry; sports strategy and game theory, including offensive and defensive tactics in various sports; record-breaking performances and major milestones in sports history; the science behind athletic performance, including biomechanics, muscle physiology, and sports nutrition; international sporting events, such as the FIFA World Cup, the Olympics, and the Tour de France, and their geopolitical impact; technological advancements in sports equipment, training, and analytics; the role of sports in society, including its impact on culture, politics, and social justice movements; the fundamentals of athletic training and injury prevention; and the values of sportsmanship, ethics, and leadership in athletics.
Description: The top 30 highest-scoring teams in each quiz category from the preliminary round will qualify for the global semi-final round. All semi-final rounds across all quiz categories will take place at the same time.
